At first glance, these two EGONLAB looks share a nearly black palette. Look closer, and their edges behave differently. In the sleeveless look, small pointed tips gather around the torso. In the tailored look, broad shoulders and a shaped waist establish a continuous outline. One silhouette seems to grow from its surface; the other contains that complexity within a larger frame.

These looks belong to Autumn/Winter 2026, titled Lazarus. In Vogue’s collection report, the designers describe reclaiming creative freedom after commercial pressures had narrowed their choices. That intention offers a way into the clothes: how might a familiar dark outfit make room for something less expected?

Across the exposed torso, overlapping feathers catch greenish highlights, with dark gaps beneath them. Their repeated tips draw attention upwards towards the neck and out towards the bare shoulders. Rather than sitting neatly inside an outline, the surface helps to form it. The contrast with the smooth visible skin makes those irregular edges especially distinct. At the waist, a narrow belt interrupts the accumulation, allowing the trousers below to read as longer, broader passages of cloth.

The jacket changes the scale of this encounter. Its angular shoulders extend beyond the body, while the waist draws inwards. Across that broad, relatively matt surface, the lapels remain clearly legible. Between them, a narrow glimpse of feathered texture appears at the neck. What spreads across the torso in the first look is concentrated here, making a small interruption within the architecture of the suit.

Seen through the designers’ stated wish for greater creative freedom, this pairing suggests that experimentation can happen at different scales. It can transform the whole upper body, or occupy a small opening in a recognisable garment. This is a reading of the looks, rather than a stated explanation of these particular details. Their force lies in how closely the unfamiliar remains connected to the familiar: trousers, a belt, shoulders, lapels. The dark palette lets that relationship emerge through edges and light.

A similar question can sharpen our attention to flowers. In a chrysanthemum with narrow petals, detail may extend right to the fringe; beside a broad leaf, that fringe can become more apparent. Before considering another colour, we might notice whether a texture stays within a shape or becomes the very thing that draws its boundary.

一見すると、EGONLABの二つのルックは、ほとんど黒に近い色でまとまっています。けれど、近づいて見ると、その縁のあり方が違います。袖のないルックでは、小さく尖った先端が胴体を取り囲む。テーラードのルックでは、幅のある肩と絞られた腰が、連続した輪郭を描いています。一方は表面からシルエットが生まれ、もう一方は大きな枠の内側に、その複雑さを収めているようです。

この二つは、「Lazarus」と名付けられた2026年秋冬コレクションのルックです。Vogueの取材記事で、デザイナーたちは、商業的な圧力によって狭まっていた選択肢を広げ、創造の自由を取り戻す姿勢を語っています。その意図を手掛かりにすると、見慣れた暗い服の中へ、予想外のものをどう迎え入れるのか、という問いが浮かびます。

ジャケットに覆われていない胴体では、重なる羽根が緑がかった光を拾い、その下に暗い隙間を残しています。繰り返される先端は、首元へ、そして露出した肩のほうへ注意を向けます。表面は輪郭の内側に収まるだけでなく、輪郭そのものをつくっている。なめらかに見える肌との対比によって、その不規則な縁が際立ちます。腰の細いベルトが集積を区切り、その下のパンツは、長く大きな布の面として見えてきます。

ジャケットでは、この関係のスケールが変わります。角張った肩は身体の外へ張り出し、腰は内側へ絞られている。広く、反射の控えめな表面では、ラペルの形がはっきりと読み取れます。その間の首元に、羽根の質感が細くのぞいています。最初のルックでは胴体全体へ広がっていたものが、ここでは一か所に集まり、スーツの構造の中に小さな変化を生んでいます。

創造の自由を広げたいというデザイナーの言葉を踏まえると、この組み合わせには、異なる規模で試みる実験が見えてきます。上半身全体を変えることも、見慣れた服の小さな開口部に変化を置くこともできる。これは個々の細部について作者が述べた説明ではなく、今回の読み方です。パンツ、ベルト、肩、ラペル。見慣れないものが、こうした身近な形と密接につながっていることに、二つのルックの強さを感じます。暗い配色は、その関係を縁と光によって浮かび上がらせています。

花を見るときにも、似た問いが観察を深めてくれそうです。細い花弁を持つ菊では、細部が外縁まで続き、幅のある葉を隣に置くと、その縁取りが見えやすくなることがあります。別の色を加える前に、質感が形の内側に留まるのか、それとも境界そのものを描いているのかを眺めてみたくなります。
